At 5am on 24 February 2022, the Armed Forces of Vladimir Putin’s Russia launched an unprovoked, unjustified and unlawful attack against Ukraine, a neighbouring democratic state of 41 million people.
Putin expected the leadership and people of Ukraine to collapse. He has been frustrated by the courage and heroism of its people. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been fighting heroically to repel the invaders.
This has led Putin to unleash direct attacks against the civilian population.
Over 2.7 million refugees have now fled Ukraine. Thousands of others have been killed or injured. Because Ukraine refuses to bow to Russia, it seems that Putin now intends to destroy the country and take as many lives as possible.
