Law360 has interviewed leading fraud and white collar crime barrister, Charles Bott KC, who has joined our firm as our new Head of Advocacy.
White-Collar Crime Pro Joins Asset Recovery Practice MKS
… Bott, who has been involved in some of the most high-profile fraud cases, including trials linked to the benchmark interest rate rigging scandal, told Law360 that he was looking forward to the role because it would be “particularly challenging” for him.
“When you reach a certain point in your career, when you’ve done lots and lots of trials, the idea of a new challenge and something which makes you wake up in the morning and think, ‘Goodness, this is difficult. How do I do that?’ is quite appealing,” Bott said.
Bott praised MKS as a pioneer in asset recovery, which he said was an increasingly challenging and interesting field.
“The great thing about asset recovery work is the answer to any given case is never in a textbook, it requires creative thought — and sometimes you fail,” he said.
Bott makes the move after being instructed by MKS as an independent barrister for several years.
“Their recent work has been at the cutting edge of their field. Their ability to find new ways to join up legal systems to recover assets for the victims of fraud and corruption is exceptional. I look forward to a long and happy association with them,” Bott said.
